Ezekiel 16-18; Hebrews 13

Hebrews 13:9 “Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teaching.”  Though before reflecting on this Scripture, I want to say Ezekiel 16 is a remarkable description of our potential sinfulness in allegorical terms, the potential consequences, but through it all God’s love endures for us.  When the Accuser points his finger our way, Ezekiel 16 is a great read and reflection.

Strange teaching in our times: there is easily enough material on this subject for a large book or a series on TV.  Its proponents are a continuous parade of guests on daytime talk shows.  Amazing that a nutbag like Nietzche is taught on almost every college campus but there are no courses on G. K. Chesterton or Hilaire Belloc.

GOD’S ANSWER: “My yoke is easy and My burden light.”  Following My will and the words of My Son is simple – not easy perhaps – but simple.  I have planted in every human heart what is right and what is wrong.  That is why “the heathen rage”: in their hearts they know they sin, but this only fuels the hostility for those love Me.  Your great challenge is to return love for hostility.
