Ezekiel 43-45; 1 Peter 4
Peter 4:4 “They are surprised that you do not plunge into the same swamp of profligacy and they vilify you.” “The swamp of profligacy”, I love that expression. I recall when Miley Cyrus did her infamous choreography at the MTV awards a few years ago, Gwyneth Paltrow – not exactly the Church Lady – as a mother of two young children expressed her reservations about it in social media, and she got hammered for it. For example actor Tim Robbins tweeted something like “It is religion and its rules that were causing all the problems.” Since there is no “enforcement arm” of any Christian denomination I am aware of, Mr. Robbins must mean that the discomfort of conscience some people feel after they act like drunken satyrs is caused by those darn religion rules and if we could just do away with those we would all be much healthier and happier. As Dr. Evil would say, “Riiiigghtttt….”
GOD’S ANSWER: My commandments are there for your flourishing and happiness, and in following them lies your true freedom. It is not rocket science folks (God sighs, does a face palm).
