Zephaniah; Revelation 9

Zephaniah 3:14 “Shout for joy, O daughter Zion!  Be glad and exult with all your heart, O daughter Jerusalem!  This verse jumped out at me because Zephaniah and Revelation 9 are grim reading.  Zephaniah is a catalogue of all the bad things that are going to happen to the Judahites and their neighbors for their idolatry, and Revelation 9 is populated by locusts that sting like scorpions issuing from the Pit and tormenting those without the Seal on their foreheads.  But Zephaniah ends with an exultation describing God’s care and love of the faithful remnant.   This feels most timely as we begin the Year of Divine Mercy declared by Pope Francis.  O Lord, grant me Your mercy, spare me the justice I truly deserve!

GOD’S ANSWER: As My Son revealed to St. Faustina, He is an infinite Ocean of Mercy.  All you have to do is take the plunge.  But if you refuse His Mercy, you will have My Justice.
