Genesis 10-12; Revelation 20

Revelation 20:2 “He seized the dragon, the ancient serpent, which is the Devil or Satan, and tied it up for a thousand years…”  I think my Bible’s notes are more edifying than anything I could say:

Like the other numerical values in this book, the 1,000 years are not to be taken literally.  They symbolize the long period of time between the chaining of Satan (a symbol for Christ’s resurrection and victory over death and the forces of evil) and the end of the world.  During this time God’s people share in the glorious reign of God that is present to them by virtue of their baptism and victory over death and sin.

GOD’S ANSWER: Yes, the Devil is “chained” by my Son’s victory, but the battle for souls still is being waged.  Persevere faithfully until the end of your earthly life, as one indominatable as Paul was, willing to undergo great trials for the sake of the Name.  Less Cheeto-munching and Kardashian-watching; more prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
