Exodus 10-12; Matthew 14

Matthew 14:15-16 “…the disciples approached him and said “This is a deserted place and it is already late; dismiss the crowds so that they can go to the village and buy food for themselves. “  Jesus said to them, “There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves.”  One of my favorite words of Jesus, as I sense His suppressed mirth.  The disciples come to Him “Hey Jesus, here’s the score…” and He turns the tables on them.  I like to imagine him keeping a straight face, but enjoying the disciples gaping and sputtering and looking at each other with googly eyes.  How easy it is tell God in prayer “Hey God, here is the score, here is what I need.”  Let us always strive to be open to God’s plan for us, to let it unfold in our lives.

GOD’S ANSWER: The Apostles were often amusing in their cluelessness, but they exemplify Mother Theresa’s “We are called to be faithful, not successful.”  Faithfulness and love is what I seek, not what the world deems greatness.
