Exodus 25-27; Matthew 19

Matthew 19:21 “Jesus said to him “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.  Then come, follow me.”  Is Jesus telling us to liquidate our assets and emulate Saint Francis?  For some the answer is “yes”: they are so called.  For most of us, the answer is “no”.  We have people who depend on us materially, and we are called to be faithful to that responsibility.  Yet we are all called to be like Saint Francis in heart, to be unattached to our earthly treasures while stewarding them rightly in our love for the Master and all His sons and daughters.  Holy Spirit, I pray for the gift of fortitude, that no fear or earthly preoccupations would ever separate me from You.

GOD’S ANSWER: Remember this current creation will pass away and be renewed, but not before you leave it behind.
