Luke 17:1-2 “He said to his disciples, “Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to the person through whom they occur.  It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.”

Woa, as the estimable Keanu Reeves would say, Jesus meek and mild!  These are strong words.  So if I interpret them correctly, an individual consuming pornography would be a sinner, but woe to the unrepentant pornographer!  Now we may not share common ground; i.e. you may view pornography as harmless Disney for adults – that is a discussion for another day.  But if you agree that indulging in it is sinful, I am confident you find it easy to see the potential consequences for those who facilitate the sin. I am not being a dogmatist; I am just taking our Lord at his word.  I had a person with a theology degree tell me that they did not believe in Hell because a loving God would not send anyone there; it was a story made up by old men to scare people into falling in line.  And I agree with the first part, that He doesn’t send people to Hell.  They choose their eternal itinerary themselves.  I hope such believers get shaken out of their presumption, because I don’t wish for anyone to go there.  I want to sit beside Ezekiel’s wonderful stream chatting with an ISIS guy and the Christian he beheaded, and we all have a good laugh.  But some of us get a little too wrapped up in the idea of God’s mercy, and ignore the idea of His justice.

GOD’S ANSWER:  Repent and be humble, the “secret sauce” of a holy life.
