Judges 7-9; Luke 22

Luke 22:31-32 “Simon, Simon, behold Satan has demanded to sift all of you like wheat, but I have prayed that your own faith may not fail; and once you have turned back, you must strengthen your brothers.”

These words of Jesus are actually great hope for parents who are despondent or even despairing of their children who are estranged from the Church, battling addictions, in troubled marriages, or otherwise leading problem lives.  If one is despairing because fervent prayers don’t seem to be answered, note here that Jesus’ prayers for Peter and the rest of the Apostles did not come to fruition in his lifetime.  Pray without ceasing Jesus tells us and for the sanctified that praying will continue after death.  The saints will have work to do until the coming of the New Jerusalem.

GOD’S ANSWER: The communion of the saints will ceaselessly intercede for those on earth until the end of time.
