2 Samuel 10-12; John 17

John 17:3 Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.

John 17 is referred to as “the high priestly prayer of Jesus.”  It is theologically dense, worthy of a book by by itself.  Jesus makes a statement about what eternal life is, that it is knowing the Father and the Son intimately and forever.  This is the pearl of great price, that we who love God while toiling and struggling in this vale of tears, seek.  And its an inconceivable thing for our finite minds to grasp.  God’s greatest, most intimate human friend was Moses, to whom the requested full revelation of God’s glory would have been fatal.  But purified and transformed after death we will know Him as He is.

GOD’S ANSWER: Know that the angels that chose to be with Me at the beginning of time are just as excited about sharing My eternal life now as they were upon their creation.  So it shall be with you, My most beloved children.
