1 Kings 19-21; Acts 7

1 Kings 19:11-13 Then the LORD said: Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD; the LORD will pass by.  There was a strong and violent wind rending the mountains and crushing rocks before the LORD-but the LORD was not in the wind; after the wind, an earthquake-but the LORD was not in the earthquake; after the earthquake, fire-but the LORD was not in the fire; after the fire, a light silent sound.  When he heard this, Elijah hid his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.

Our culture is one of constant noise and distraction. We can only hear His voice in stillness.  That is why it is important to allocate at least part of one’s time in Eucharistic Adoration in stillness, just being open to the Lord.  Spiritual reading, praying the Rosary – praying in general are beautiful things to do in the Sacred Presence, but one needs to spend some time just listening for that small, still Voice.

GOD’S ANSWER: I am always listening to you; sometimes you have to return the favor.
