Tobit 7-9; 1 Corinthians 2

1 Corinthians 2:9  But as it is written: “What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered into the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him.

These are perhaps the greatest words of hope in Scripture.  No matter what your level of accumulation and achievement in this world, these things ultimately run like sand through our fingers.  We who abide in the love of Christ long for Heaven, but our finite minds at best drum up “streets of gold” or tee times at an eternal Augusta National.  The angelic seraphim – the “burning ones” – have been offering ceaseless praise to God since their creation, and according to tradition are never bored, but continuously amazed and in awe of God. It’s impossible to wrap one’s fleshly mind around that.  But I’m trusting Paul that as our new President would undoubtedly say, “It’s a beautiful thing.”
